I've never seen plastic cover gaskets.

The normal valve cover (cam cover which ever one wishes to call it) is made of rubber with a cork blend.

If you are having a CONSTANT leak issue it is NOT the gaskets fault. This is due to an engine being over pressurized because your crank case vent is clogged. This is the small silver canister on the drivers side of the block.

Good point to clean the vapor trap, Maybe replace the hose or hoses when you are there. I remember missing gaskets under the fasteners on the valve covers. And warped covers from over tightening

+1 on watching the over tightening. It's surprising how little is too much. You should finger tighten the cover screws and then tighten them no more than 1/2 turn. Any more and you may get leaks, and they may create a lot of oil in the spark plug wells (ask me how I know).

And get the rubber gaskets. At least for me the cork ones wouldn't seal.
