'69 + '72 Wiring Diagram help

Post by 69Fiat »

Could someone perhaps help me with a specific issue? I have a '69 but the engine is a '72. The wiring diagrams I have are for a '69. Unfortunately there are several things that don't line up between the diagram and the actual car. Could someone please lead me in the right direction to obtain the right diagram? Must include the Sepiea LEC relay, the Marrelli TEL 12C-1 wiper relay, the 8-track player, and a little canister below the dash that looks like some other relay. I need the right wiring for an electric fan as well with the power and the negative switch.

There's also 5 toggle switches on the dash, one is a 3 stage switch for the headlights, a binary switch for a fuel pump that was put in, and one was routed to the glovebox light (for whatever reason). That leaves 2 toggle switches that I am not sure where they go to. I am guessing one is a wiper switch?

Please please help! My wife is 38 weeks pregnant and I'm trying to get this done before my daughter is born!

I have a file with all the wiring diagrams from 69-73. If you PM me with your email address I'll send it to you.

Several, if not all, of the things you list are not part of the stock car and therefore will not appear on any of the diagrams. The 8 track, for example, was almost certainly put in by a previous owner and none of that wiring will appear on any of these diagrams.

Unfortunately what aj81spider said is correct, a lot of what you describe are not stock. You mention 5 toggle switches. Other than the head light switch to the far left of the dash there shouldn't be any toggle switches. I'm afraid it sounds like you'll need to revert to good old fashioned tracing of circuits using a multimeter to figure out what it is the POs left you with.

Also, since the electric fuel pump was added to your car I seriously doubt it had the two relay couplet that Fiat engineered as a safety feature to turn the pump off in the event of a wreck (senses loss of oil pressure if engine stops to prevent the fuel pump pumping gas out a possibly broken fuel line) you should install a Ford inertial shutoff switch somewhere in the pump electric supply circuit.
