Hello all,

I just purchased my second Spider! I had a '79 way back when... I came across a 1983 Spidereuropa and purchased it a few days ago. Looking forward to interacting with everyone here and of course, enjoy my "new" Spider!!

Very similar experience to mine Abey. I had a '79 in '80 when I got married. Spent 26 years without one and now have an '82. I understand why you're back in a Spider.
Welcome aboard.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum! Ron recently became our resident fuel injection expert (the hard way). Since your Spider is a late model with FI, you should get to know him well :D

Thank you for the warm welcome. You guys do respond fast.

I will post pictures over the weekend. I am currently reading up on all the great posts and the insight provided in these forums. There is a wealth of information here.

Information about my Spider:
1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa
Verde Scuro (Dark Green)
146000 KM (90720 Miles approx)
5-Speed
A/C (aftermarket?) partially disassembled

My first task is to replace all the fluids, flush the radiator and change the clutch cable. I ordered all the parts.

While idling, the engine seems to miss at times but seems to run strong. The clutch engages/disengages at the very bottom, maybe an inch off the floor board. The air and fuel injection hoses look worn out under the hood.

I downloaded Bradley Artigue's various manuals including the fuel injection guide. I will certainly reach out to Ron for guidance.

Mark, love your headers; don't think I am quite ready for it yet! :)

Welcome! Nice to see another late model genius her in Florida. Good choice on the car! There used to be an Italian car club in your neck of the woods but I am not sure what happened to them. Since you are so close I will try and get down your way sometime. I am sure you will grow to love your new baby.

Brad's maintenance book with FI section and his electrical diagrams are also two of the first things I got when I acquired my '82 also.
Don't know if you caught this Abey, but another good diagnostic tool is the dual relay and ECU tests found here:
http://www.wcmotors.com/personal/Fiat%2 ... agnostics/
It is rare from what I've heard for either of them to go out, but believe me, the do. If your car ever refuses to start, these pages will give you a quick way to test if it's in the circuits controlled by the ECU or dual relay.
Keep in mind, our FI cars have two live 12V lines going to the dual relay, one of them is unfused. So whenever you need to do anything with the electrical on your car be sure to disconnect the battery to avoid spiking the dual relay.
Ron

PS; John, oh boy, the pressures on now.

Ron, thank you for the URL for the FI diagnostics.

Gunsmith, Love to see your car. I saw another new member with an '83 in Miami. It'll be lots of fun to see all South Florida Fiats.

Holy moly, that's a pretty car!
I hope you're not shy, cause a whole lot of people are going to be looking at you.
And you're certainly welcome. I have to thank Kelly Dicker from mirafiori for the dual relay/ECU diagnosis pages. It was just what I needed when my car wouldn't start.
