Hello again
I have a '78 1800 with a '79 distributor. It was working perfectly up until two days ago. I changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires to performance wires, rotor, distributor cap, magnetic pick up, performance ignition control module, starter, ignition switch and added the ignition relays. At first start it all started up perfectly with the exception of a loud clanging noisy coming from the distributor. I opened it up to find the rotor was banging into one of the ignition posts and bent the post as well as the metal tab on top the rotor. I replaced those with the old ones and it started up again, a miss fire here and there but nothing dramatic, as I drove around I noticed the gas pedal felt a bit difficult but still drove nicely. after an entire day of driving off and on I went to work in the evening and when I came out, the car refused to start. No matter how long I crank the engine for, the car would not fire up. I once again changed the ignition module to a new one that's not performance as well as the ignition coil.
I tested the spark plugs and there was a small spark, then nothing after that. I read on another post about the choke sometimes getting stuck open but the choke was just about closed so I don't know what else it can be. I rechecked the rotor and cap again and noticed a lot of little shavings on the magnet and the bottom of the distributor, I cleaned that up and put the old spark plug wires on it again. I tried cranking it and after a while it showed a sign of wanting to ignite. after several min of trying again and again, it would only show sign of combustion once or twice before just cranking.
Any and every piece of advice to solving this conundrum would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

As you have a electronic ignition system, have you replaced the sensor and attached cable in the distributor to the electronic module?

Re: Help!! engine doesn't fire up anymore
Because of lack of spark and metal shavings inside your distributor:I tested the spark plugs and there was a small spark, then nothing after that.
1. Remove distributor cap, crank motor and look to see if the distributor shaft is bent
2. Double check your magnetic pickup gap. It should be gapped about the thickness of a credit card
3. Look for damage to the posts inside your distributor cap. The rotor should never touch the contacts so there should be no damage
4. If all of that checks out okay, conduct a resistance test on your coil to make sure it is good.
Report back when you check these things.
