Greetings, Re: 1979 2000 with automatic transmission, 25,000 miles. I decided to change the differential oil in the differential. I know that gear oil can be pretty nasty, smelly stuff on a good day but what came out of this diff.' was almost black, certainly very dark. The magnetic drain plug had a lot of sludge on it but nothing that could be considered as ferous material.
Any suggestions as to the cause other than age.
