a better introduction (w/ pics)

Hi folks....I've been here lurking on & off for some time. Considering that I am going to have to miss the Fiat Freak Out again this year, I had my own Fiat car show in my front yard yesterday. Thankfully, I did well in the show :) I guess it's fitting being the Independence Day weekend & all. Anyway, here's my '71 124 Spider. It has 41K miles, but is not a barn find car....a low mileage driver, I guess you could say. It's all original except the steering wheel, the 32/36 DFEV & '74 1800 intake & the Abarth exhaust. Here's a link to the pictures I took:

Belated welcome Chris. Pretty looking car you have there. With that mileage you have many years of fun driving ahead of you, hopefully without major problems.

thanks folks. not trying to imitate anyone...seriously. the mileage is a problem in a weird way in that it really has (and gets) too *few* miles for its own good. I was able to take ownership last year from it's owner who carried it from about 1973 to 2007. He, like myself, loved the cars, but also loved all sorts of wheeled machinery (+ a family, a "life", etc.) so he had enough cars and bikes where it was impossible to put many miles on any one of them. The car is not perfect...in fact, it had a minor mishap in the front at one point & was repaired & the car has been repainted. It's got a few paint chips. I own it/drive it with no more or no less care or worry than any other FIAT, but I'll admit it's much prettier inside & out than any I've owned prior. Plus, with the DFEV & Abarth exhaust, if I may say so myself, it's perfect. Well....I'm a little biased. Oh, & for the record, this car had a stable-mate that it had shared garage space & ownership with since 1974...a 1972 124 Coupe. The coupe is in similar condition & has 52K miles. It's got its own little vanity site at http://www.fiataccompli.com/124coupe/19 ... coupe.html

(and, if you do click the link, you'll notice I could use a nice, proper sport exhaust for the Coupe....if you have any leads on one, drop me a line!)

Your 71' looks a lot like my 72' probably should. You are missing the Fiat emblem in middle of the octagonal mesh grill(?), but I think the flat hoods sets them apart and is prettier and sleeker then the the bulged hoods. Mine is a BS1 model, not sure what the 1 stands for, but anyway quite a beauty you've got there... mine shall resemble yours more eventually :)

Gorgeous. I love your Coupe too. I wanted to buy your blue one but there was no way i could have afforded to buy it and transport it way out West. I feel like I missed a great opportunity. I owned a 74 Coupe when I was stationed in Germany and boy was it fun to drive. I love the Spiders but the coupe oh yeah (said in a deep voice). Awesome to have both!

thanks folks. i like the car(s) too. I didn't make them pretty, I just try to keep them that way. The Spider had a Coupe style grille badge when I got it & I removed it. I have the correct one, but I realized I really liked the clean grille with no badge....so, that details is omitted intentionally, fwiw.
