Hi All,
I am having trouble with the driver side door handle on my '79 Spider. The lock tumbler fell out and when I tore the door apart I found that the screw on the back was missing. I now have the tumbler, the bracket with the ball on the end that connects to the rod, and a washer. I can buy a screw but my question is, are there any other parts I'm missing? Does anyone have a schematic/drawing of how it is assembled. I'd take the other door apart, but it seems that lock doesn't work either so I think the previous owner just threw the doors together and didn't care if it locked or not.
I have a picture I'd love to upload but I can't seem to figure out how to and/or I don't have the permission.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Mike

Here are a few photos
I don't think you mentioned the spring or its retainer.
Hope this helps

Re: '79 Door Handle Question
Hello,
Thank you, that helps a lot. You are right, I don't have a retainer or a spring. I knew something had to be missing. I have a feeling the previous owner didn't install them on either doors.
Next question, does anybody sell those parts? I know I can get the whole handle but i can't find the hardware for it. Anyone know?
Thank you,
Mike

Hello All,
Does anyone have a picture of the spring and it's retainer by themselves? Then at least I would know what I was looking for.
Thanks in advance.
