1980 spider tachometer

When I first start up the engine the tachometer will not read the rpms. The tachometer is fine after the engine warms up. When it's cold I can push up on the wires in the back of the ignition switch I believe it is the pink wire and the tachometer will work. Funny thing is if I rev the engine up when it's cold it will respond but goes down to zero when the engine idles. I'm thinking there is bad contact inside the ignition switch. I'll check the connections at the plug connector also. Any help would be appreciated.....
