Shifter rattle

I have a 78 that runs great, and shifts well. However, the shifter rattles like crazy and with the top up in the winter is very annoying. I have had the car almost 4 yrs and has always done it. IT isn't any worse but would finally like to address it this winter. IS this a normal thing for these cars?

It's not normal - but it's a common problem. If you do a search on "shifter rattle" you should find threads describing the problem and the fix. Auto Ricambi sells a kit with the parts you will need to fix the thing.
