Question of the day: How does the trunk light work? How does it turn off or is it constantly on... 76 Fiat 124 got to love them!

Re: Trunk Light
Trunk light is connected to the headlight switch. If your old light is not yet so brittle, the lens housing slides up and down so that you can choose to keep it off while driving.

Re: Trunk Light
When your lights are on the trunk light is also on whether or not the trunk is open.

Re: Trunk Light
I connected an in line mercury switch to my trunk light. It's mounted on the hinge. The light only comes on when the trunk is open and the lights are on. A $.99 conversion.

Re: Trunk Light
For the trunk I went away from the stock design and ran a quick LED circuit off the battery where the old light was. Car on or off, trunk open or closed, I can control the bright LED lights in trunk with a quick push of a button. Cost $8.56 for the LED light. I know its not stock. But after all, the fun in these cars is in the use.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: Trunk Light
Same here:
Wired directly off the battery with fused disconnect wiring to remove cover, and toggle switch. LED Pucks mounted underneath the overhang would produce less glare, but this acts as a safety rear warning light, and there is zero exposed wiring. 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other!

Re: Trunk Light
You can have you phone do it for you. Start it recording video, place it in the trunk with the light on, close the lid and the video will reveal if any mercury or other automatic switches one has installed are working as planned.Bytor36 wrote:you have to get inside and close it to find out.
