Hello from Raleigh NC - Hunting for a new Spider
Hi - great site by the way - I'm back on the hunt for another Spider. I sold my '82 in '99 or so and have forever wished I hadn't. So, I'm now looking for another. This next purchase will be my fourth. Other than eBay any advice on where to 'hunt' would be appreciated. Also, the mechanic that used to work on my Spiders no longer is in the area (Raleigh, NC) so any connections with a great mechanic would be welcomed. Again, great site and hope to have my new trophy soon. HH

Welcome to another North Carolinian! I'm near Winston-Salem. How much are you willing to spend, how far are you willing to travel and how much work are you willing to do to it? There are a couple people on this site looking to sell theirs. As for mechanics, we end up doing our own work with the help of all the great support on this forum, but there used to be a guy that dealt with Fiats in Raleigh. I'll check with some local club members for more info.
Thanks for such a quick reply. I'm probably looking to spend no more than $5K and would be willing to look at anything decent/honest in the US. Even though I purchased my previous cars from the dealer in Durham back then I used to do a lot of my own work. I did however rely on my mechanic for the more involved issues. Quite honestly I never really had any issues. I do remember the rotors/brakes used to be quite bothersome and I did have one car that had a gearing problem but other than than I was quite pleased with their reliability. Of course, it seems I was always trying to figure out why the rear lights kept going on the blink You mention a local club - can I get some information about that? Thank you again for the reply. HH

HH,
the club I'm referring to is Corsa Rossa. Here's a link to the website:
http://www.corsarossa.com/index.asp?inc=monthly
It also acts as our NC FLU Chapter so there are a few Fiats that come for the meetings. We're having a Rally on the 6th of May in Elkin, NC that draws a crowd of over 100 European vehicles and is great fun. It would give you a chance to meet some people and maybe steer you toward a car.
I also know of a few people needing to sell their Spiders due to relocation or personal reasons. If you want more info you can email me at spiderlady@earthlink.net

Hey there fellow Raleigh fiat dude. I live in N. Raleigh and just bought a 77 that needs alot of work. Everyone that I have talked to says that the guy who really know them is called nines and his is in Youngsville. I've been to his salvage yard and it looks rough, but I be he knows his stuff. Let me know if you have got your car. I would love to meet you and share some info.
