Hello from Miami, Fl.

Post by osanyin1 »

Hello everyone!
I'm glad to be a member of this great forum. Looking forward to learning and sharing information about Fiat spiders.
Three months ago someone offered to buy my 79 spider and I sold it. Big mistake... I learned that I can not be without a Fiat so I bought another. I now have an 82 2000 spider and it needs a lot of work. I have a long road ahead of me, but I'll get there...
I look forward to learning from the forum....

welcome, post some pics when you get time. I would think you'll like the FI model much more than the carbed 79

Welcome fellow Floridiot! Glad to see another Fiat owner in South Florida. 82 FI 2000 is what the coolest people are driving these days. I sacificed my 79 1800 many years back to help buy my first house. You will find a number of parts cars on Craig's list in Florida waiting to be a donor for your new baby. There used to be an Italian car club not far from you in Ft. Lauderdale maybe you will be able to hook up with some of those guys. Stay on the forum and you will find it priceless during the restoration of your new found project.

Don't ever do it Mike, it will haunt you in the deepest of sleep. Then when you can't take it anymore and have to get one again someone famous will be seen in one and they will end up being $20K.

Thanks you guys! I will try to post some pictures tomorrow.
Do you guys consider fi to be better than carburated? My previous fiat was carburated an I never had a problem with it, hopefully fi won't give problems.

I think driveability is much better in a FI car

You will probably experience some minor problems with you FI car. Not starting. Jerky acceleration. Dying suddenly in the middle of an intersection. But nothing worse than these minor problems.
I'm kidding of course. Once you are familiar with the components of the FI system, it's not all that hard to diagnose any problems. There are several good Bosch L-Jetronic manuals out there, be sure to get at least one. Brad Artigue has a good one you can download here: http://www.mirafiori.com/faq/fiatFI_may2002.pdf
If anything comes up you need help figureing out, let us know.
