Seat Belt Button Stuck Down -help.....

In today's Fiat adventure I had to crawl out from the seat belt as the orange button is stuck down with the belt still very much attached. I tried to pry it loose with a screw driver but no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions for unstucking this thing??

FIAT used about 2,000 different seat belt combinations. I'd remove them and replace them if they were mine, defective seatbelts isn't a good thing. Replace the whole set if you want them to match.
