Rear brake caliper

Post by pluktv »

I rebuilt my caliper last year, seals, caps etc. I did this because there was a slight weep past the piston seal. It was a struggle but it worked and I thought I did everything ok. Maybe 3000k later it is leaking again past the piston seal.
My question is; Should I replace the seals again, in case it's my bad workmanship to blame, or is this a sure sign that the caliper is toast?
My two cents ain't worth what it used to be

A lot depends on the condition of your piston. if it is pitted, it could be eating the seal. if the dust shield is not installed properly, it could have let some grit behind it and ate the piston seal
