I am getting ready to replace the bearings and seal in a 2L distributor. To me the shaft has a lot of free up and down travel of the shaft. Does anyone know of a specification for this? I was thinking of adding a washer to take some of it up. Then I was wondering if it is there so it doesn't load the cam gear that drives it.
Your thoughts welcome

Don't know specifically if there is a spec in the maintenance manual. Have you checked the IAP video on the rebuild procedure?

Haven't looked at the video recently. I know the removal of the gear pin in the video is very misleading. I have taken a few apart and have never had one where the pin can out that easy.
