I seem to be getting excess smoky vapor from the upper crankcase hose. This week I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the oil/vapor separator (what a beeotch) however it still smokes. Not clouds of smoke, but enough that I notice it escaping the hood on a sunny day at stop lights. It's just embarrassing.
Suggestions?

replace the piston rings.....or, do a leakdown test to see how well they seal

Ok.. And that would give me smoke in the crankcase but not in the exhaust? So Cal Mark wrote:replace the piston rings.....or, do a leakdown test to see how well they seal

Mark, can worn rings also cause oil to pool on top of the oil filter? I've been trying to figure out why oil collects there with no obvious source. Thought I had the filter too tight but that doesn't seem to be it. Or from the bolts or gasket that hold the oil filter plate to the engine. A real mystery, for me.
