Wipers work great when r side arm removed????????
Wipers work great when r side arm removed????????
Ok, I went to a Fiat Breakfast today with some members from NJFiats. It was great and seeing a parking lot with quite a few of these little gems in it. It did just start to sprinkle as we left so I decided to head to my Sisters house as it was closer due to the wipers on these cars being iffy. I got there we pulled the cowl, everything was just as free and easy as when I had cleaned it up over the winter, except the motor was REALLY loud. When we were putting it all back together I tried the wipers with only the drivers side arm attached and it was like a modern car, intermittent, fast, slow all worked great, I added the other arm and it was like Id killed half the power to the motor. I bent it, twisted it, tried finding an adjustment for the spring, cursed, laughed, and all but threw the other arm away. I have no idea why this is happening. Even with the rightside arm brely touching the windshield, or pushed into the up, or snow, position so its not contacting the windshield at all the wipers move super slow. What can I be missing? Any ideas? I don't intend on spending a lot of time driving in the rain, but it happens and Id like to not become a chalk outline because of my wipers. Thanks in advance!

That is weird. I wonder if pushing on the right spindle makes it want to lock up?
Take the cowl off and try pushing pulling etc, to see if you can make the linkage bind.

Hi Chas,
I had the same problem when I was heading home. I think that another member solved that problem by disassembling, cleaning, lubricating and reassembly of the entire rack. George
