FI Injector question. Now a fuel pump question

Post by adrians »

Hi All,

I have just removed the fuel rail and the four injectors for servicing, all went well no problems with service and clean.

Now I'm trying to reinstall the rail and injectors, after inserting the 4 injectors and tighten up the 4 nuts on the metal collar there appears to be a gap where the injector inserts into the manifold.

Should there be a o-ring or seal at the end of the injector nozzle ?

Thanks

There are two "o" rings. One on the tip of the injector (smaller) and then a larger one that fits further up so the injector is isolated from the aluminum recess on the intake . Hope that made sense........ :?
You likely have done it, but from my past boo-boo's make sure the new clamps are orientated so that you can tighten them when the injectors and rail are all in place.
The metal collars the right way around (yes another boo-boo on my part once) so they effect a bit of pressure on the injector in the recess.

Enjoying your winter down under?

Re: FI Injector question - Fuel Pump Question

- New problem today -

Well had all the injectors clean and reinstalled, now the car will start and run at idle, however whenever you place any load on the fuel system i.e. in gear and accelerating the 25AMP fuse for the fuel pump blows.

Doesn't blow initial when the car is left a idle !!!!

Any ideas ?, is the fuel pump clogged ????

My diagram shows a 16 amp fuse for the fuel pump. For a 25 amp fuse to blow something is really wrong.
The aux air regulator is also protected by the fuel pump fuse. Have you unplugged it to see if the fuse still blows?
Also all the fuel injector connectors are the same blight brownish color. The cold start valve connector is blue the aux valve connector is black and the thermo time switch below the fuel rail in the intake manifold is brown.

Hi,

The air regulator is new ( from Mark ) and was connected.

I have now rewiring the additional wiring harness for the FI system that my car has for the old turbo switches, perhaps a short had developed there.

I'll drop the fuse down to a 16amp and check it on the weekend, thanks for the suggestions.
