Can anyone identify this plate? RESOLVED!

Post by bjbrown »

I've run across a little cad-plated bracket or cover plate in my stash of "stuff" associated with the Fiat spider 2000. Mine's a 1980fi. This little plate is about 2" x 1.25" and around 3/8" thick. It's nothing more than a rectangular plate with two holes. I've photographed it leaving the tell-tale dirt to show that something was mounted on top, but I don't know what. I don't want to get my project finished only to find out I have to take the entire car apart again to put this potentially critical piece back in place. Anyone recognize what it is/where it goes?

It may be a backing plate for the rear brake compensator bar bushing.

Matt,

THAT'S IT!!! Wow, a hole-in-one! I checked out the plate against the compensator bar bushing bracket and it matches perfectly. Thanks for your prompt and 100% correct response.

I probably already have a few extras. Jim, you need one for your hi performance 1608 build. Just like a carb spacer, this is a brake spacer. It will increase the torque of your rear brakes = stop faster!

Na, just pulling your leg. lol
