Clutch cable feed through firewall
I have read some excellent threads on this forum about the stiffness of clutch cables and after playing around with my real heavy cable, have found that my problem is that the washer, rubber bush set up that feeds the cable through the firewall shifts and ends up causing drag on the cable. The firewall is solid and in very good condition. I was wondering if there was a correct or effective way of holding the cable end in place like a special nut or something?
Re: Clutch cable feed through firewall
the rubber grommet on the cable should fit snugly in the firewall hole.

Thanks Mark, I'll tidy that up. The cable end seems to move around a fair bit. Is there a locking nut or something that can be used to hold it firmly in place?

no, the hole should not be hogged out to let the grommet move. The proper size of the hole should be small enough for the grommet to fit tightly

look to see if the stub of the grommet that fits into the hole is still there and did not break off. i probably have one or two of those i could send if you need one vs. buying a whole new cable.
