Hello all,
Greetings from a very wet UK. Not at all a good day for driving about!
Got myself a dark green 1983 Pininfarina Spidereuropa in Nov 07, and will be hoping you folks at the forums will help me keep her on the road and in good condition.
I do need to take off the sill covers to put some Waxoyl on the sills but can't figure out what to remove and in what order. Any pointers??
Cheers,
Derek.

Hi Derek. Welcome to the site. Many of us would love to see some pictures of your car to be able to understand the differences between our Spiders and your Spidereuropa
Most of us here are clueless about the language barrier between Brits and Americans. Door sills, boots verses trunks, earth verses ground...etcetera. We also do not have Waxoyl. these phrases are used on LBC (little british car) forums, but almost never heard here.
Are you referring to the tarlike substance found underneath the stainless rocker cover?

Waxoyl is a waxy rust inhibitor that's applied to metal. If you're talking about the chrome sill plates, removing a few screws will have it right off. If you're talking about the rocker covers themselves, (if I remember correctly) there are screws at each wheel opening and you may have to bend the ends to pry them off, after removing the chrome molding.

Thanks for replies.
Sill covers? They are the metal things/covers running from front to back between the wheels/under where the doors open, and curving under the bottom of the car. They are cosmetic only and cover the real structural parts of the chassis.
Waxoyl is a water repellant/rust preventative treatment you spray into areas of cars that might get rusty. Here in the UK we use salt on our roads in the winter to melt ice; The trouble is that it also rusts cars...especially Italian ones.
I would love to post some pics but can't see how to!!
Cheers,
Derek.

Those are the rocker covers. You'll have to remove the chrome strip and may have to remove the chrome door sill plate(in the door opening) just because it sits on the chrome strip. The rocker cover or sill cover has a lip that tucks under that chrome strip in the door opening area. Remove the screws in the wheel openings, then gently pry. You may want to look under the car for screws, but I can't remember any being there.

yeah, he already tried that with me. I turned him down, lol.mdrburchette wrote:Gee Mike, have you tried giving it away?

disclaimer: Actually, I had better set the story straight. I told Mike he needed to give me his car, he said "come get it" and then I turned him down. I know that a free car is NEVER free, especially not one from Mike. It would be like getting financial help from a parent, you can't take the help and then expect them to stay out of your financial "business." LoL,I kid, Mike, I kid.....
