New Member for Sydney - Oz '81 T

Post by adrians »

Hi All,

Just introducing myself.

I'm about to take ownership of a 1981 Spider 2000 Turbo ( minus the Turbo at present ). I've been looking for a Spider for the past 3 years and finally found a nice, clean, original unit. The car has been convert to RHD back in 1994 and has full compliance to Oz standards. Turbo was removed to meet the conversion standards. Owner believes he still has some of the turbo compotents in storage ( somewhere ). Needs a small amount of TLC and a top-end rebuilt ( has 224K Km's on the clock ).

Previous Fiats I've owned ( 20 years ago ) have been 1972 124 coupe BC with a moded 1800, 1968 Fiat 850 Coupe and a 1500 Sedan ( rally car ).

Regards

Welcome to a great forum. It seems that getting into Fiat after a 20+ year hiatus is a regular theme. Congrats on finding one, good luck with it.

welcome! Does the turbo interfere with the RHD steering box, brake booster, or both?

Welcome Adrian. I'm in the West, but will be in Sydney over the Oz Day long weekend. I'll be checking out the NRMA Motorfest on Saturday if you're going to be headed that way.

Welcome to the forum.

To All,
As previous discussed photos of the new addition to the household. My wife says the neighbors will be talking, only household in the street with two convertibles in the garage (my wife has an Astra soft-top - her mid life crisis), the driveway looks like a car-park !
To date I haven’t found any rust, other than the passenger door and the rear wheel arch, need to find the oil leak – only a small amount !
Photos of the interior soon.

Color is ‘Grigio Fumo Met’ – Grey Smoke Metallic, but looks metallic Olive green to me !
Regards

Hey Adrian, Your car brings back memories, it's the same color scheme as the '79 we had when we got married. Good looking car.
