Hello
I need to replace the rear seal on my 124 Spider box (main shaft), having researched the job it looks viable without removing the gearbox, can anyone confirm this and offer some tips?
Thanks
Mark

Re: Gearbox rear seal
It's possible, jack up the car as much as possible to get more working room under it.
Have a small puller ready for the rear driveshaft bushing. With the limited space that might be the only way to get it off.
You will have to remove the rear 32mm nut that holds the yoke. Don't forget that it has a locktab behind it that is folded over one of the flats. You need to un-fold it before you try to take the nut off. I found that many regular 32mm sockets are not quite deep enough to get it, but some are, so you may try to find the deepest one available.
