Steel brake tubing
Steel brake tubing
I need to replace all the steel tubing for the rear brakes on my '76 124. I want to fabricate it all myself. Does any body know what size steel tubing and the thread type is used on the fittings?
thanks Mark I was hoping you would see my question. Do you know the tubing diameter by chance?
I had to make a hard stop in the rain last week, the right front locked up and I started to slide to the left, with some fast pumping I got her slowed down just in the nick of time. semi trucks are really big when you're sitting that close to them looking up at the back doors.
I got home and stuck my finger through the wheels, both fronts were piping hot the left rear was warm and the right rear was stone cold.
My buddy and I started a little diagnosis with the car up on jack stands and the wheels off. I stepped on the brakes lightly and both rears seem to grab at the same time it's only when you step hard that you notice the stream of brake fluid coming from the steel line going into the compensator valve, which by the way we discovered to be frozen solid with corrosion. New parts should arrive today or tomorrow from iap.
