Master Cylinder Nipple Size?

Post by davery »

So I have replace my master cyplinder after having one of the plastic nipples break and the new MC has different size nipples. The old niplles have an OD of 8.75 mm and the new one have an OD of 6.75 mm. The problem is that the nipple coming out of the resevoir is 8.75 mm. I contacted VickAuto, where I bought the new MC and they sent me two new ones but they are the same smaller size. Does anyone know of a place that sells the larger nipples? The only other thing I thought of was replacing the resevoir (assuming the nipples are the smaller size). Any other suggestions?

The smaller size was used on early cars, larger size on later cars. MC is the same. It really does not matter as long as the fluid tank, hose diameter, and MC nipple are all the same.

Autoricambi.com sells all sizes and even a few different orientations, ie. straight up, 45 deg angle, and right angle.

OK, now I just need to figure out if it cheaper to buy two of the larger nipples or a new fluid tank. It kinda tickes me off, though. On the website it looks like the nipples are the larger ones. When I talked with them on the phone, they blamed it on "Italian quality control". Live and learn, I guess.

It would be cheapest to get the nipples. You'd have a hard time finding an old reservoir with the smaller outlets, plus you'd have to replace the hoses too.
PM or email me, and I can put some in a first class envelope, so shipping doesn't end up being way more than the part.
