Fuel lines in trunk

Post by Divers »

All,

After being "burned" by my fuel pump being bad (it being the only major part I did not replace on this restoration), I decided to replace all the fuel lines in the trunk even though they "looked" good.

So....based on previous posts here it looks like an 8mm hose is good for the vent lines. But, I am stumped on the main fuel delivery line from tank to pump (FI car). The line I removed was clearly marked as 3/8", but the IAP states it should be 12mm? Other forum posts state 5/16?

So.........???? As stated above this is a fuel injected car.

Jay...

That's the one. That thread states the fuel delivery hose is 5/16" and the one I removed is 3/8" and the one IAP states is 12mm.

I have checked a couple FI fuel tank outputs with a linear caliper. The output is 12mm on the ones I have checked also the input to the FI Bosch pump is 12mm. 12mm is 0.484375 inches so if you can't locate a 12mm hose a 1/2 inch (0.50)ID hose should work when clamped properly.

NAPA sells the correct hose if you're interested. They usually keeps spools of FI hose in stock. The guys behind the counter are usually kind of clueless about metric stuff (which still amazes me) so it doesn't hurt to double check what they pull out of there.

The clamps you want to use are sold by pelican parts (http://www.pelicanparts.com)

Thanks all.

Had to get something today so I replaced the 3/8 that I removed with 3/8. It should work.
