I have an 81 spider and all of a sudden when the car starts up it stalls out at a cold idle.
when it warms up its ok.
so I put new plugs in and its still doing it.
I know this is an open ended question but whats my next move?
thanks so much
car stalling

Re: car stalling
if the problem was the cold start inj, the engine would be hard to start. The aux air valve provides a faster idle when the engine is cold, allowing it to idle until it warms up. First step on this system is to ensure there aren't any air leaks in the intake system

Re: car stalling
Ok doesn't seem to have any leaks ... We adjusted the idle but this is not what started the whole thing . It seems to warm up quicker but still will stall at first start.?????
Now what ?
Now what ?

Next I'd check the coolant temp sensor. The FI one on the coolant T. It needs to be reacting correctly to temp for the ECU to determine injector pulse duration. Also make sure the flap in the AFM isn't sticking. Per Mark's comment; is it hard to start when cold?

Re: car stalling
as I already suggested, the aux air valve controls cold idle. Setting the idle speed has nothing to do with how the aux air valve operates

Ok I took out the aux air valve and sprayed it out, the hole is very small but I think thats what it supposed to look like,
put it back on and it starts right up but stalls right out.
whats next Ha HA

Re: car stalling
Have you checked that your injectors are pulsing?
