Window Regulator

Post by EestiSpider »

So the piece that connects to the handle of the handle is almost stripped and it makes foreclosing down my window very difficult. So I was wondering what you guys think I should do? Either get a new window regulator or apoxy the handle on to the sprocket? Thanks for the help.

The only issue with the "shadetree" solution is if you ever need to remove the handle to get the door panel off, you are up the creek without a paddle.

So obviously the answer is 'new regulator'. Just be aware that there are some differences in how the handle is fixed. My car had immatation wooden winder handle centres with a wood knob. They mount to a mech spindle with 2 gooves round the shaft for mount clip (as normal) plus a grub screw into 2nd groove.
New mechanisms only got groove tor the wire clip so I had to go find new winder handles to suit.

The PO of my car just used vice grips , stripped the regulator out very nicely!

I also purchased mine with a set of vice grips thrown in the deal. That was one of the first things I replaced. Not a hard job just a little tedious.
