Replacing Front Pinion Seal 1975 Spider
Replacing Front Pinion Seal 1975 Spider
My front pinion seal is leaking badly. I have a couple of questions. Can this be done in place or should I remove the pig? Once removing the flange, how do I remove the seal? If the bearings are bad, how do I remove those? I have read the shop manuals, but they aren't clear on some points. Can I safely replace the crush bearing, bearing and seal without endangering the rear end or does this require a automotive shop to do it? Just don't want to ruin the rear end by finding out I should have done this or that. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Replacing Front Pinion Seal 1975 Spider
You can do it in the vehicle.
Big nut will be tight, use pipe wrench or something to hold flange. Air Tools??
Seal will come out, use screwdriver to pry or pound it in.
You will not be changing crush sleeve or bearing UNLESS bearing are noisy now. If so you have a job on your hands.
Just pull seal and put in new.
Get big nut darn tight.
