I broke off one of the inlets pulling the the fuel tank out. Talked to a local Fiat mechanic in the area, they said this part hasn't been made since 1992 and I can just by-pass it. Has anyone else done this? What do you think?
Do I need a fuel vapor check valve?

Fix it. It is there for a reason. Get a little tube like from a WD40 can and put it inside the broke off piece and then glue em together. Don'tuse a silicone sealer, it will fail with gas fumes.
OR get one off a junk car, lot of rotting bodies out there.

I agree the tank needs to be vented. I wonder if there's a vent valve from another type car that is more readily available.
