Auto Trans Modulator Part Question

Post by Fiat88 »

I took the old modulator out to put the new one in but I noticed that the old one had some kind of hollow spacer pin in it, which is removable. The new modulator is a different style. Anyone know if this spacer is needed? Weird in my opinion.

Old one on the left, new one on the right. This is the end which goes into the transmission.

NO Fiat AT expert here, but a lot of modulators use a pin like that. And it needs to be in the new mod. Although yours looks like a roll pin. Why are you changing the modulator?

Lately my car started to idle low when put into drive like 400-500 rpms but in park stays at 900. Tried adusting the idle at the carb and adjustment doesn't help. Thought maybe the modulator going bad, but not sure if that has any to do with it, though. Second reason don't know the age of it and 3rd looked kind of beat up. For $15 taking a shot.

Thanks will put the pin back in.

the modulator only affects the shift points, has nothing to do with idle speed
