For the last couple of days I have have been trouble shooting with no luck. The car will not start cold without putting a couple of drops of fuel into the carb. It is getting no fuel without motor running. Have removed and cleaned and checked the idle/stop solinoid but no change. Engine will not idle on its own until warmed up and then it runs fine. The only other
issue is that now it stumbles when you get down on it at cruising speed just for a second. The carb is a 28 adfa and was rebuilt 9 months and 12000 mile ago. Could I possibly have a bad accelerator pump. Would that cause this problem? That is where my thinking is now. Any and all help is deeply appreciated.

Re: carb issues
Well does it squirt fuel into the bore when you move the linkage to the fully open position? Easy to diagnose an accelerator pump issue

Re: carb issues
Just went and checked. Linkage eared back fully opened, no fuel whatsoever. Turn engine over, linkage fully open, nada. Is this a sign of a bad accelerater pump?

Ok,the last four times I started the car cold or sort of, it started right up. Leaving work today I had to ary agresively work the throttle and she fired up. What is going on? How do you diagnose a bad accelerator pump?

Re: carb issues
Like Tulsa said, look down into throat of carb with engine off and pump the accel linkage. Pump, don't just hold open. You should see fuel squirting out of the discharge nozzle. It will squirt downward and you will likely need a flashlight. Also, does the choke plate shut with engine cold?

Re: carb issues
No fuel was discharging into the throat of the carb when I checked it yesterday. Pumping the throttle would still not injected any fuel. Today however, everything is working as it should be. Work the throttle linkage and a fine mist is sprayed into carb. My last question was how to diagnose a bad accelerator pump. Would that be no fuel being discharged into the carb while working the throttle back and forth? But now, for the time being, it seems to be working fine. I'm not sure about the choke plate being shut but I will check in the morning. I havent let it get cold all day. We have been driving
