Transmission sensor for what?

Post by dmwhiteoak »

I am replacing my transmission and found all the wires broken off this . What is it and do I need it? I think I know what wires need to be soldered back on but they where not connected on the one I pulled out. Any help and all guesses will be appriciated.

Not really needed and likely the rest of what it was attached to no longer works either.

It is the 3-4 shift sensor and operated a feature that kept the rpm up to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions. There is an electrovalve in the engine compartment on the driver's side which opens and creates a throttle bypass loop.

There is also the reverse sensor which lights the backup light, if this is that one you should likely fix it or replace it.

Karl, I believe the one that activates the reverse lights is more towards the back of the transmission and scews in paralel to the trany.Thats kinda what I figured that thing was but just wanted to be sure. Transmission is in and all gears shift smooth. I did notice I had no back up lights but i will tackle that in the morning. It was 106 here today and I spent all day in the shop working on the car. I am spent. Thanks for the reply.
