WOW, indeed.

I'm not a fan of the rules changes of the last decade+, but that was great.

I agree with you on most of the rule changes, although I do like the DRS. Even yesterday the tires, and how quickly the give up, have become such a huge factor in the results.I like to see the drivers decide who wins, and not the engineers. That being said, the race yesterday had it all!! The drive by Alonso was epic. After the F1 race,I put it on the NASCAR race from Sonoma. That is one of the few NASCAR races I actually watch. After watching the GP,the cars looked ponderously slow.

I did'nt watch the whole race but did see a few clips. What got the hair standing on end were the shots from the helicopter. A great referance to the speed and the speed changes they had over the course. 300 kph then down to 90 then back up again in a blurr... it was great to watch the skill in handling those cars in traffic at those speeds while constantly changing directions.
Later while surfing the channels clicked on a stock car race when they were driving around turning left...just not the same after the F1 race.

Great race! I'd be willing to bet that if you put all of the top F1 drivers in identical superkarts Alonso would win almost every time.

I think that with all equipment being equal, you are probably right. What he has done this year with a obviosly sub-par Ferrari is pretty amazing.
