Properly hanging an Ansa under the '80 Spider

I bought a gently used Ansa and had it installed today. The tips are uncomfortably close to the body. In fact, one of them was touching until I noticed that the bracket that mounts to the rubber hanger on the old muffler was longer than the one that came with the Ansa. But now it's maybe 1/4" inch from the body on one side and 5/8" on the other. Is this enough clearance? What have you guys used to hang them properly?
