That little white plastic holder broke on my car is there somewhere that I can order a new one from?

Also what exactly is that wire doing? it's not the throttle cable is it?

Kick down cable for my automatic trans?

My car just started surging and if I would give it gas it would bog down and die, I limped it to a friends house and when looking we noticed that white plastic holder was loose, and in the process of trying to tighten it, it sheared the nut and threads off.

Checked the AFM and the door is moving freely.

that other cable is the detent cable for the auto trans and it's needed if you expect the trans to shift properly

So that being loose and not clamping onto that detent cable would cause the bogging that I had?

if that is the case that the white plastic piece should hold the cable tight and pull it when the throttle is pressed, is there an easy fix? or would I have to buy a whole new cable? The new cable that I found was 75 bucks...

the white piece should loosely hold the transmission kickdown cable. It should pull the cable near full throttle. I'm not sure exactly how the adjustment is made. It should be fine as long as it is not pulled 100% at full throttle.

The kickdown cable is used to send a signal, mechanically, to the transmission to downshift for faster acceleration. It will not have any impact on how the engine runs. Surging and dying under throttle are usually signs of low fuel flow. I'd check you fuel filter and maybe pump.

Thanks!

It was weird, it's been running so good, and then just started surging and the tach would jump all over and then I'd try to give it gas and it would bog and die

have you checked the intake boot? The detent cable has a major effect on upshifts as well as downshifts

I'm starting to think that the cable isn't what's causing my surging.

I checked the intake for cracks. I'm wondering if something is clogged in my fuel pump or filter because it will start, really hard now, and then in park if you rev it up it surges and eventually dies.

Of course now it's stranded at a friends house, so it's not as easy as going to my garage to work on it.
