Can't get coolant hose to stop leaking, help

Post by ylbill »

Ok, I don't whats going on, but I have a leak at the bottom of the short 3-3/4" hose going from the water pump to the thermostat on my 82 and I can not get it to stop leaking. Changed the hose didn't help, tightened it it gets worse. I know this seems very basic and it should be. Not sure if anyone else had the same problem? Any help is much appreciated. Pump inlet looks fine. Thanks!

sounds like the leak is somewhere else, probably the water pump, and running onto the hose

that's what I was thinking too, but on close inspection with a mirror, wiping the area, it sure looks like it starts from the hose, but I know water can be tough to trace. maybe I just didn't want to hear that it may be the water pump, but your probably right.
