Ive been taking the Spider out on dry days (averaging 2x a week or so) for short trips. I always let it idle and "warm up" for about 8-10 minutes while I listen in so can get a feel for how its running. Im listening, watching etc. im noticing that its slowly idling rougher and sputtering more. The sputtering sometimes makes the tach "jump" although the jumps seem to happen between the sputters if that makes sense.
My guess would be the dizzy as the PO recently told me it had given him issues in the past. the plugs look perfect, new wires, great compression. Anything else I should look into or is sputtering normal? Also on todays warm up if I pressed the gas it "pinged" once or twice and seemed ready to stall. Once warmed up and driving it seems OK although it still sputters with tach jump at stops.
I guess Im really trying to understand the sounds and "feel" of the car so I can stay on top of the maintenance curve. Some of this changes with the choke/throttle knobs so im thinking its just a matter of getting the mixture right. I have not fiddled with the carb at all and am not anxious to.
Thanks all
George
