Fuel Pump location on 81 Fiat Spider 2000

Is the fuel pump on a 1981 Fiat Spider 2000 (FI) in the gas tank?

No(thank God),the pump is located under the car in front of the driver side rear tire.The filter should be right there also.Very easy to get to.

just behind the rear axle dr side you can see the two can covers
one covers a filter and the other covers the pump --remove them with tools--
if you havent replaced any thing plan to replace all you see
rubber hoses clamps "ZIP TIES"

as the tank always has gas you want to be quick
i clamp off the rubber close to the tank
pre build every thing you see
disconnect the wires remove the rubber closest to the cabin
put on you pump filter asembly
then the gusher,by the tank
have a bucket ready
use some cardboard under that
yes you can reuse the pump IF you know hjow old it is
more than 10 then get a new one

Joe,I wonder if a p/o has moved your lines.Mine,and I am pretty sure the stock location,is drivers side and in front of the rear axle? Maybe it is different between 81 and 82,or someone has moved mine!!!

Those are not ZIP TIES, they are original Fiat straps made from Italy's finest marble They surpised me too when i saw them.
