Hey guys, I'm planning on checking to see if my problems (poor power, and recently no start) are carb related, and have a few questions.
First, thanks to Matt for the carb diagrams, they are fantastic.
Ok, I have a 32 ADF, and the diagram shows a plug where I figure the fuel screen is, would that help at all in accessing the fuel screen, or should I approach the fuel screen by taking the top of the carb off? Second, the papers Matt sent mention a special tool (tool 4900, I believe) but I have no clue if that tool is essential or possible to acquire. Any recommendations for setting the float level by other means?

To access the brass fuel screen, remove the large brass hex head plug. The float level can be set simply by measuring the min and max opening. Its easy if you have a feeler gauge. Combine the feeler gauge blades until you get the thickness you need, then slip it between the float and carb top piece.

Re: Preparing to dive into my carb
upside down"closed"7mm
rightside up"open"14mm
pull out the little brass pluds one at a time and clean the "brass posts with holes" that are under them
replace all Orings and washers with those that are in the rebuild kit

Say, where would one attach a vacuum tester to this carb, or manifold?
