Has anyone put these headers on their engine and what have the results been. I've read and heard that the Vicks headers are much better than the headers sold by IAP, primarily due to the cheap paint used by IAP. Also, I've removed the catalytic converter on my exhuast and was wondering if I am going to have any fitment problems.
Thanks

Re: Vicks Performance Headers for 81 Spider 2000 FI
I was told by the motor heads around here that make sure the headers are welded on the inside and outside of the joint and ground down accordingly. When welded on the outside only, there could be gaps between the flange and pipe causing premature failure... I'd be thinking the vendors would be doing the proper welding. I have an old set I picked up used but thet were welded on the outside only so I ground and then ran a bead on the inside. So hopefully good to go... when I have another car to put them on ( working on that now) I like the ceramic coating on the headers as any paint burns off quickly.(just dont ceramic and then header wrap.... coating comes off)

I installed the IAP headers on mine with no fitment issues. They sound and work great. You do want to have it outside when you burn off the paint. But after it burned of there have been no issues. Just saying...

The Vicks headers come with a nickle coating, that looks similar to chrome. It does not offer heat protection and will turn colors after a while. The nickle coating must be completely removed prior to having it ceramic coated.

I have the Vicks headers on my 82. The exhaust is 2.5 all the way through with no cat. I did put a resonator on to tone it down a little. it was pretty loud with the free flow exhaust and no cat only a performance muffler. The header is great. I've only put a few thousand miles on it. I did a lot of modifications at the same time to save some headache down the line, a while you are there approach. I'm very pleased with these headers and have no doubt they contribute to the overall performance. The amount of benefit will depend a lot on your cars specific set up.

Re: Vicks Performance Headers for 81 Spider 2000 FI
hello i have a iap header mine isnt new by any means
it heated up the Ebay too much and melted my over flow bottle
it rusted a bit and wasnt sealed were it was cut by the instaler to shortin it up
so last year i pulled it and welded it painted and wraped it
also the gasket didnt seal quite right so i filed it on the bottom side of the studs
to lift the gasket for a better seal
