Top Cable Threading and Frame Fitment

Post by opus10583 »

Hi,

Thanks to this forum I've realized what's wrong with my $500 "Expert" top installation*.

An irony is; a local shop that brushed me off could have made a quick $200 and had a happy customer. One thing this Spider's taught me: The US deserves its pending third world status, the concept of customer service and a job well done are the nostalgia of a lost culture...

The cables weren't threaded through the tabs at the rear of the rear windows as depicted in this thread: http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... +top+cable.

1) The holes in the brackets look pretty rough to run a cable through, should I consider a brass grommet in them or would the reduced diameter create an even greater binding issue?

2) My top structure is tight on the driver's side, bow adjustment at its eased limit, and a little loose on the passenger's side, bow adjustment at its tightest: Is there a protocol for settings and adjustments to "zero" the top frame before accommodating idiosyncrasies?

Thanks,
Mark
