Had my radiator out for repair this week, also did a new timing belt, water pump, etc. I was putting it all back together when I had a brain cramp. I had the coolant tee already mounted before putting in the radiator. I had forgotten how much having the coolant tee already in there would cut down the clearance I had to maneuver the radiator into place. To compound my duh-ness, The coolant sensor was in there too.
So, flash forward I'm lowering the radiator into place, and I snapped the coolant sensor off.
Think I'll be able to get the rest of the sensor out? Or am I going to need a new coolant tee as well? I haven't even tried to get it out yet, I just walked away for a bit.
Coolant sensor broke off, left 1/2 in coolant tee

Re: Coolant sensor broke off, left 1/2 in coolant tee
im thinking you broke the coolant temp sensor for the fuel injection, which is located in the "tee" the sensor is readily available, the part that broke should have been just the plastic. the remainder of the sensor is brass, you should be able to use a 19mm wrench and remove it, replace with new or used and go on about your business.. very easy repair

Re: Coolant sensor broke off, left 1/2 in coolant tee
Well, yes and no.
It is the coolant sensor for the FI mounted in the tee. So that's a yes.
Where it broke? That's a no. I broke off BELOW flush with the tee. So the part that I would put a wrench on to remove it is part of what broke off.
I know I need to order a new sensor, my question is do I need to order a new tee as well.

Does it have a hole in the center of it? Can you drill a hole in the center? If so, you can drive in an easy-out. It is like a reverse drill bit (don't use a drill, though) Just attach a wrench to the end and back it out. Only concern is getting drilled shavings into the tee. Just dry out and vacuum.

Well, it finally stopped raining, so I could go back outside and tinker with it. The "remains" came out easily by just jamming a stubby screwdriver in there. So now I just need a $20 coolant sensor instead of the coolant sensor AND a replacement coolant tee.
