if it's carbed, check to make sure the wire is connected to the idle cutoff solenoid

what is your idle at high idle?
then low idle should be 850 rpm
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

it should be the only wire going to the carb
unless it has an eletric choke

So i just got back in from messing with this and this is what i found started it up was running and as it was coming off from high idle it died so fired it back up kept it running, i then started to unscrew solenoid and its started running better but with a high idle, so i screwed it back in and it died , so i unscrewed it completely took it cleaned it and the port it came out of put it back in and it fired right up and ran for about 10 - 15 minutes then started acting up again, but now on a side note i think i have a charging issue because now when i go to re start its struggling for juice and my lights seem really dim, dangit , it got to cold and wet to continue tonight so tomorrow all through the voltmeter on and see if alternator is putting out the juice needed, could the alternator and battery be so bad that the solenoid would not be operating properly like not getting the juice it needs to keep that circuit open, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Shawn

if the voltage was too low to operate the solenoid, you wouldn't have enough power for the ignition system either. The solenoid has the low speed jet on the end of it, so if you have a restricted jet, loosening the solenoid will let fuel bypass the jet and allow the engine to run.

Ah ha ok i see, so do i look at replacing solenoid or do i remove jet to clean that also, if that's not it what is my next course of action.

Thanks!

Make sure soleniod clicks when plugging/unplugging. And when cleaning out soleniod, ENERGIZE IT or blpwing thru it won't do much good. Simply turn key on, take it out, plug wire back in, then rest it up against something grounded. It should "Click" as you ground it. Now the passage is open, and you can blow thru it to clean it out.

right when it dies test the coil for power
test the main ground and give it a yank to know its tight
