FYI - crank nut removal

Post by burlybryan »

I picked up a $5.99 chain wrench at Harbor Freight today and wrapped it around the outer pulley (with a section of old belt in the groove). With a breaker bar on the chain wrench wedged against the underside of the car (it has a receiver for a 1/2" socket wrench) and a 1/2" socket wrench and 4' cheater on the crank nut it turned like butter. A 30 second job and much less nerve wracking than the ghetto starter method.

Now on to the cam, aux and crank seals, timing belt and water pump.

Oh and I think I figured out my cold start problem but I'll wait to follow up on my old post when I have the car together and can test it.

In the so called ghetto fashion lol deep well and a breaker bar to the deck turn the key and hit starter button.I have done that with every vehicle I have ever had to remove the damper or crank pulley on. Don't understand how it is ghetto..but ok.

Because if you orient the breaker bar the wrong way it will take that wrench and bust the sh*t out of your fender, hood, face, or all three. For $5.99 the man made no mistakes.
