battery cables

Post by mik »

Are the battery cables picked up at local auto parts or are there recommendations or things I should know about before I make a purchase? Thanks for the info

You can pick up the negative cable at any auto parts stores. The positive cable is likely too long to be available at a local store. I made my own many years ago by buying the cable and connections from an auto electric shop, and installing the ends (hammering them to get crimped) myself. It was a while ago, so I do not remember details, sorry.
You can buy temporary terminals that bolt onto the end of the cable, but these develop contact and corrosion problems over the years, so they need to be checked regularly.
