Hi!
Love the site!! Thanks for sticking with it.
Decided to use Pumpkin as my username because my '73 spider is a sort of Pumpkin color (original paint)...I was leaving the pool hall the other nite and said "I gotta get home before my car turns into a pumpkin.." and all my friends said "it already is!!" so there you go...Got a good deal on it (another Craigslist special) when I was looking for parts for my 73 Spitfire. Went to look at another complete spitfire thinking to use it for parts and saw this other car under a disintegrating car cover. Asked the guy about it, he said they both ran when he parked them (about 5 or 6 years ago) and I ended up buying them both for $900. Cleaned all the carcover dust off it and dumped about 5 gallons into the tank thinking I could just fire it up and drive away.HAHAHA. Dont EVER do that!! Gas tank had a LOT of rust in it, had to pull the tank, siphon out all the gas, cleaned the rust out and cleaned all the varnish off the intake screen, managed to break off a wire tab for the sender while I was doing it, but put the gas back in after straining all the rust out, THEN fired it up and drove it home. First thing I did after I got it home was put in a new timing belt, having learned the hard lesson a long time ago with an ex-girlfriends 128 coupe. It's my daily driver now, put 1k miles on it in the last month or so. Body's not too bad, some rust but the mechanicals are pretty good. Don't think it's good enough to restore but definitely has "ratrod" potential, and gas mileage is SOOO much better than my Bronco2...now I gotta get another bottle of SPF50 to protect my bald head on those topdown days. 8)

Welcome to the site, and the hobby, I mean....obsession.

I feel your pain, owning two Spiders and one Spitfire!
