32/36 install

Post by beachspider »

I mounted my 32/36 DFEV last Saturday. I actually had to go down to a 50 primary idle jet in spite of the fact my car is a 2 liter. It does still have the stock intake manifold. I had ordered a jet kit to go up in jet size for both primary and secondary idle as well as air corrector jets, but because I went down on the primary idle jet I've left the others alone. Wondering if I should still go up in size on air corrector jets? Runs, idles and drives good as is but slight backfire on shift when I rev to high rpms.

The real problem, however, has been the choke. The plates close and all, but no fast idle to matter how much I turn in the fast idle screw. Any ideas?

Got the choke working. It turns out I had backed the idle speed way off. Wonder if this kept the fast idle from engaging. Still could go down a jet but going to check timing first. If it's advanced too much, could this affect how it runs with a given jet size?

definitely make all of the settings before changing jets. I'd have a hard time believing a 50 idle jet is too large for your motor.

On every 2000cc Spider I've worked on (dozens) the DFEV goes on without rejetting whether I've used the stock manifold or the 1800 manifold. Needing a smaller idle jet has me scratching my head, were you unable to lean it out using the mixture screw?
