Changed the oil and filter on the car yesterday afternoon. Took the old filter off and screwed the new one on. replaced the oil with 20-50 for the summer. Started the car... and POP.... oil slinging everywhere.
What happened is when I unscrewed the old filter, the rubber seal was left on the housing. Being dark and the old filter falling into the oil tray,I did'nt notice it. Two rubber seals will not hold the oil pressure and it popped and lost about a half liter real quick.
Make note to self.... check next time
Chris

Had that happen when I was 16 one of the first times I ever changed the oil on my Mom's car. It didn't inspire confidence from her, its a lesson I have never forgotten.

LOL,
When oil and filter changes are a regular part of the job, that's the FIRST thing you look for.
I can't tell you how many times that little trick of Murphy has tried to hose me on an oil change on a Mooney!
I could be real embarrassing if the customer is watching you do the run-up for a leak check.
