I was about to put the intake manifold on my car. I have a new gasket from Autoricambi. I put the gasket on and slid the manifold on with no trouble. I went to bolt it up and....uh oh. Both outside bolts fit fine. I got the middle bolts in (by the way, any trick to this...it was a PITA), but they wouldn't start threading in. After a few curses and some head scratching, I pulled it all off. I put my manifold on the ground and lined up the gasket. Well, everything seems to line up perfectly except the middle holes. They're about 1/4" off. So that was keeping the bolts from reaching the holes. I'm attaching pictures here. So do I have the wrong gasket, or do I need to do some small mods to this one? Also, I don't use any sealant or anything on it, correct? Is there a torque spec to bolt it down, once I figure out gasket issue?

Re: Intake manifold gasket help
this is a common issue not that big of a deal, put a couple bolts in the other mounting holes to hold the gasket
in place then use something to reem out the gasket holes just be sure to take your time and not wrinkle or damage
the gasket while doing this . Once your done you can eye ball it and see if the hole is free and clear or insert a
bolt to check if it clears .

Re: Intake manifold gasket help
Thanks for the idea, Daniel. Used your suggestion and got the holes widened enough to be able to thread the bolts. Now the next issue.... How on earth do you tighten those darn bolts up? I can get to the inside and outside (near cylinders 1 and 4) real easy. But the two middle ones... What tool do you use to reach those? My socket wrench can't seem to get anywhere near them. Very tight spot. Also, how tight should they be?
